Layla Hoying

(6-29-24) Another Hoying is headed to Ohio State…Layla Hoying, the daughter of former Ohio State and St. Henry football star Bob, announced this week on Instagram that she has committed to play volleyball as a Buckeye.

I am extremely excited to announce my verbal commitment to play volleyball and continue my academic career at The Ohio State University! I am so grateful to God for this blessing, and to my family for their unending love and support. I would not be here without my @mintonette.sports coaches and teammates, and my strength trainers with @stabilityes. A B1G thank you to JFO and the rest of The Ohio State volleyball coaching staff!! Once a Buckeye, always a Buckeye! GO BUCKS

Ohio State will have to wait until she graduates…she will be just a Junior in the fall at Columbus Watterson. She plays club volleyball for Mintonette Sports

Her season last year as a Sophomore at Watterson saw her with 392 kills, 204 digs, 50 aces and 33 blocks. She was 1st team All-District and Central Catholic League and 3rd team All-State. Hoying at 6’0 is an outside hitter/attacker, a 3-time AAU National Champion and this year’s Mintonette MVP.

Her sister, Ava, plays volleyball at Northern Kentucky and this past season she was named to the 2023 Horizon League All-Freshman Team.
