(9-15-17) Leo’s (Indiana) Senior Kicker Ben VonGuten (5’10 150lb) at a recent practice was kicking 65 yards field goal as he showed what he could do during a WANE -TV (Ft. Wayne) segment. VonGuten, who was the Northeast 8 all conference kicker last season, continues to improve the strength of his leg.  Many say he is the best all-around kicker/punter in the Hoosier State.

This season VonGuten has 3 FGs and 17 extra points, 26 points overall in four games.

VonGuten at this point has three solid offers to play at the next level, all in Indiana. Only one offer comes from from a DI school, Valparaiso and the other two are from NAIA schools hometown power St. Francis and Upland, Indiana’s Taylor University. The tv segment may draw some more offers before the season ends.

VonGuten receives good marks from two different kicking specialists, Kicking Coach and Kornblue Kicking. Kornblue has the Lions’ kicker ranked #8 in the National FAB 50, as a punter he is ranked #16.  In the past he averaged 64 yards and four-second hang time on kick-offs.

Ben has been attending our camps since he was an 8th grader. We used his 8th grade field goal video as an example of what perfect form looks like. Since then he has gotten a lot more powerful. Ben averaged 64 yards per kickoff with hang times of around 4 seconds. He shows great punting mechanics. He can do all three skills at the next level.
