(1-25-18) – It was a night to remember in boys high school basketball for Huntington North (13-3) , but one that Columbia City (6-11) would rather forget. For the two schools from Northeast Indiana it was something that doesn’t happen during ‘Hoosier Hysteria’ and despite which side you were rooting for you will always remember it.

The Vikings would hold the Eagles scoreless during the 1st half 31-0 and well into the third quarter of the game.

It was a conference game (Northeast 8) for both teams and the Eagles will try to shake this loss off when they continue conference play against New Haven on Saturday.
How would coach Norman Dale handle a situation like this? It would be a teaching moment time for his team. A chance to learn is always a valuable lesson.

…..

Ten years ago to the day of this comment (February 1, 2008), the Manistee (MI) Catholic Central girls basketball team held conference rival Bear Lake scoreless in the first half (MCC led 39-0 at the half and went on to win 56-16; MCC was very good that year and went on to win a district title before losing to private school power and eventual state finalist Mount Pleasant Sacred Heart in a regional semifinal). I wasn’t at the game (I was on snowcoming court at the public high school down the street), but their two best players (sisters) scored a lot of the points that game; it was one year from that day that their dad passed away.
