(7-19-18) Several years ago the Midwest Athletic Conference decided to play just eight conference football games instead of nine, giving each conference team two non-conference games. The second non-conference games helps secure added computer points for conference members, so far the MAC has made that formula work.

A highlight game on the non-conference schedule, defending Ohio D VI state champion Marion Local, the only MAC school playing an out-of state school, will take on Woodlan (Indiana) to start the season. Last season the Warriors went 12-3 and lost to Southridge in the Indiana 2A State Championship game 15-14.

Covington will face two MAC opponents in 2018, St. Henry and Minster.

Parkway will play two Northwest Conference schools Crestview and Spencerville. The Panthers only win came last season when they beat Spencerville 14-13, the Bearcats qualified for the playoffs and won their first game over Mechanicsburg 34-0.

Coldwater plays their traditional opener when they take on Kenton from the WBL and Versailles takes on Celina (WBL) to continue their annual opening game match-up.

Defending D VII state champion Minster matches up with next door neighbor Ft. Loramie on week one. Last year the two schools, the Wildcats won both games, including a first round palyoff game 40-24.

Delphos St. John’s will play Toledo City school Woodward to open on week one.

Versailles will play Delphos Jefferson, making them the only school to play both of the Delphos schools.
