(6-22-23) Delphos St. John’s, currently a member of the Midwest Athletic Conference (MAC), is in the process of evaluating a possible move to the Northwest Conference (NWC).

Adam Lee, St. John’s Principal in a reply to a SSN email –

“At this time, we have been approached by the Northwest Conference to become a member school. We are examining all of our options to ensure any decision we make is in the best interest of our school family and students.”

The NWC recently had two schools, Ada and Leipsic, leave for the Blanchard Valley Conference (BVC). Since that time the NWC has been looking to fill those spots.

Last week the NWC was rejected by MAC member Parkway. No official word on the status of the three schools who are known to have shown interest in the NWC … Liberty-Benton, LCC and Ft. Loramie (football only).

If St. John’s decides to join the NWC it would put them in the same conference with Delphos Jefferson. The two schools, despite being in the same community, rarely schedule each other in varsity sports.

Recently the two schools have been scheduling each other, again this year they will kickoff the football season against each other in week one.

A look at St. John’s athletics—-

In 1971 the Blue Jays joined the Western Buckeye League (WBL)…the 1982-83 school year would see St. John’s join the MAC.
