school press release

(7-1-23) Aquin High School, home of the Bulldogs, regretfully announces that our 8-man football team will not be participating in the upcoming season. After careful consideration of current athlete numbers and unsuccessful attempts to form a cooperative with Orangeville High School, Aquin has made the difficult decision to suspend its high school football program for the 2023 season.

Despite two previous appeals to the I8FA for a cooperative with Orangeville High School, it is with disappointment that we share the news that these requests were not approved. While this decision brings about temporary changes, Aquin High School remains committed to providing a well-rounded athletic experience for our students.

Looking ahead to the future, we are pleased to announce that the cooperative between Aquin and Orangeville High School has been approved for the 2024 football season. We eagerly anticipate the opportunity to come together as a united team and foster a sense of camaraderie between our schools.

During this transitional period, we recognize the importance of offering alternative athletic opportunities for our dedicated football players. We hope that athletes will take advantage of our golf program, which will be available as an alternative sport for those athletes who wish to remain actively involved in athletics. We will also continue our after-school lifting program in the fall for all of our athletes.

Golf provides an excellent avenue for athletes to further develop their skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The Aquin High School golf program has a long-standing tradition of excellence and offers a supportive environment for students to excel in a different sporting discipline.

As we move forward, we will continue to evaluate the circumstances of all of our athletic programs and explore opportunities to continue offering as many extracurricular opportunities as possible.

At Aquin High School, we believe in fostering a comprehensive athletic program that caters to the diverse interests and talents of our student body. While the temporary suspension of our football program is undoubtedly disappointing, we remain steadfast in our commitment to providing an enriching and rewarding athletic experience for all our students.
