(7-18-23) Bradford and Covington are just 6 miles away from each other. Both communities have high schools, both have fielded football teams over the years. Despite being so close to each other they are in different athletic conferences…Covington is in the Three Rivers Conference and Bradford is in the Western Ohio Athletic Conference. The two schools are not scheduled to play each other this season.

Will this season be a repeat of problems both schools had last year?

The two schools schedules below for this season are from joeeitel.com. The Covington schedule has all 10 dates listed with an opponent, while Bradford only has 8 dates filled, including an opening game with Middletown Christian, which is listed as a club team. According to the OHSAA school directory Bradford lists a TBA in the spot for contact information for the football coach.

Both schools are D VII schools and play in Region 28.

LOW NUMBERS

Covington cancelled several games just before game day during last season due to low numbers.

The current football picture on the Bradford Athletic Departments (most likely from 2022) included three girls in the team picture.

The Yappi Sports Board thread ‘Bradford Football Updates?‘ abounds with rumors and insights….one unconfirmed issue is that at least three Covington players have transferred to Bradford.

Update in July from Bradford football, which lists Coach Nicholas Bandstra as the Coach.

The 2023 season starts in just one month on August 18th.

NOTE: SSN sent emails to both schools administrations, this story will be updated should they reply to us about the football situation for the upcoming season.
