Brad Luthman

(8-22-23) The high school football season opened this past week…it’s a BIG deal in Ohio. For St. Henry they opened the season against Western Buckeye League (WBL) powerhouse St. Marys…the Redskins shutdown St. Marys 17-0 in an impressive win. Time to celebrate??? That celebration was clouded earlier in the day… before the game started it was posted on social media that Head Coach Brad Luthman had been suspended.

The story was posted on WCSM‘s website with a short comment from newly installed Superintendent Adam Puthoff. Puthoff started in his new position on August 1st.

Yesterday WHIO-TV received this statement from Puthoff:

“Brad Luthman, St. Henry School’s football coach was suspended for one game, served last Friday, August 18, 2023, for unprofessional language in the presence of students. Once we were made aware of the allegation, we promptly investigated and took appropriate action.”

WHIO’s visit to Mercer County brought a silence among the community and school officials on the situation.

Puthoff or Luthman have not released any other information or comments, including what was said to the students, who made the decision and what the process was to suspend Luthman and if he will be back this week on the sidelines.

The Redskins will play Archbold on the road this weekend in another non-conference game.
