(8-24-23) During the August 22nd IHSAA Executive Committee meeting on a 17-1 vote Ft. Wayne Bishop Dwenger was moved down in football from Class 5A to 4A. The change comes as part of a tournament success factor that schools would be reevaluated after the 2022-23 school year. Schools who failed to earn a point during the tournament school year while playing in a higher class would be returned to the next lower class for the next two years. The Saints were the only school that qualified to move down after not earning a point last season.
Details below explain the situation and the reshuffling of sectionals after the change. No explanation on why the IHSAA waited this late to make the change.
Voting against the item was Chad Gilbert from Charlestown, who is no stranger to voting against an issue.

Both schools, Carmel and Center Grove, are still looking for a new athletic conference home after being dismissed late in 2021 by the Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference and denied by the Hoosier Crossroads Conference for membership in January of 2022.
No other information was posted in the meeting minutes about why and what resulted from the minutes.
