(10-1-23) With 397 teams entered, the matchups for the 52nd Annual IHSAA Volleyball State Tournament were announced to an online audience via IHSAAtv.org this evening.


Host sites will announce their respective playing schedules this week and the IHSAA will populate the MaxPreps.com tournament brackets that will be linked at IHSAA.org.

Sectional play begins on Tuesday, Oct. 10, and continues through Saturday, Oct. 14, at 64 sites across the four enrollment classifications.

Those sectional champions will advance to a four-team regional on Saturday, Oct. 21, to be followed by a
single semi-state round on Saturday, Oct. 28. The four state championship matches at Ball State University’s Worthen Arena are scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 4.

The four top-ranked teams in the latest polls from the Indiana High School Volleyball Coaches Association at IndianaPrepVolleyball.com headline this year’s field.


In 4A, the No. 1 defending state champion Hamilton Southeastern Royals drew a bye into the semifinals of Sectional 8 at Zionsville and will await the Westfield-Zionsville winner. In Class 3A, the top-ranked Bellmont Braves will open tournament action facing Mississinewa in the Sectional 23 opener at Norwell. In Class 2A, the Muncie Burris Owls will meet Winchester Community in Sectional 40 at Wes-Del. And in Class 1A, the top-ranked Tecumseh Braves will take on Cannelton in Sectional 64 played at Northeast Dubois.
