(11-26-23) This past weekend on the Campus of Illinois State eight Illinois High School Association (IHSA) football championships were decided.

Four of the eight titles were won by #1 seeds, 50% of the championships. Three of those seeds were in the smaller school classes,,,1A, 3A and 5A. The other #1 seed was in 8A.

What caught the attention of many this weekend was a #15 seed beating a #12 seed in 5A. The remaining seeds to win a title were a #3, #5 and a #6 seed.

Also playing for a title this weekend were a #11 and a #13 seed.

Three of the eight titles went to private schools.

Is it time to make changes in the playoff format? How to determine teams that qualify for the playoffs? Or do nothing and keep the current format.
