(12-2-23) The 2023 attendance numbers for this year’s OHSAA State Final football games are in.
Despite just two of the seven division games with higher attendance numbers then last season the overall attendance for the weekend was up…43,739 in 2023 and last year was 38,530. It is the first time since 2019 that the total attendance was over 40,000.
The D II game between two Canton area teams, Massillon Washington and Akron Hoban, brought in 14,846 fans, which was 9,726 more fans then last seasons D II games. The crowd for this game was the largest since the 2019 D II game.
The D VII game between Marion Local and Dalton saw a crowd this year of 6,331 compared to just 3,782 in 2022.
The other five divisions had less fans in the stands then 2022…although the D VI game between Kirtland and Versailles saw a drop of just one fan…for a break even game.
