One of the CHSL Central Division members, Toledo Central Catholic picked up the OHSAA D II State Championship beating Columbus Watterson 27-7. The Fighting Irish finished with their 2nd straight state titel, a 16-0 perfect season record and 31 consecutive wins in a row, one of the longest streaks in America. Five of their 10 games were against Michigan conference members.

It may not be the first school to win a football state title in one state, but be a conference member in another state…but it doesn’t happen a lot. The four Toledo schools were left with no option after several members of the Three Rivers Athletic Conference bolted leaving them and Lima Sr. with nowhere to go. The only real option was to join the Michigan CHSL.
