Lawrence Central New #1 IBCA Girls Basketball Team, Norwell Knocks Off Columbia City

(12-10-23) Norwell hung on to beat last week’s #1 Columbia City on Friday night 45-44, it was the 1st loss for the Eagles this season.

The Eagles drop to #3, Norwell is #14.

The new #1 Lawrence Central picked up 15 1st place votes to out distance 2nd place Hamilton Southeastern..who had 5 1st place votes, both teams are 10-1.

Rensselaer Central is the only undefeated team in the top 30 at 12-0.

Below are results of the IBCA girls’ basketball poll for Week 6 (Dec. 10, 2023)

The IBCA poll is a “non-class” poll, where teams are voted to a Top 20 regardless of school classification.

There are 20 panelists who vote for the poll — one voter each from the 16 regionals; three at-large voters (one each from IHSAA Districts 1, 2 and 3); and the committee chairman (Doug Springer of Northridge).

This poll is released on Sundays throughout the 2023-24 Indiana high school girls’ basketball season. The final poll for the season will be on Jan. 28, 2024, the Sunday following the completion of regular-season games.

 IHSAA sectional games are scheduled Jan. 30-Feb. 3, 2024
