Dear NJSIAA –
If your response to the missed call of the final shot in the Mansaquan-Camden game is —
We apologize to the Manasquan team for the error.
That will not do…today the entire country is talking about this game and the obvious buzzer-beater made basket that was overturned. Social media shows that the shot was good. It also shows that it was ruled a good basket basket before the three referees met to discuss. So why was the call questioned or even overturned???
You have devastated a basketball team that had just pulled off what looked to be a major upset…and you turned all of that into a nightmare.
Let’s discuss what you should be doing…the NJSIAA administrator from your office needs to apologize to those who were at the game who wanted a comment from him on the situation…what was his input on the shot to the officials. why was he even there?
The three officials need to pay a price for this…suspended for the rest of the season and possibly next season as well (if not be placed on probation)….including future tournament games.
Quit quoting the NJSIAA Bylaws to cover-up a mistake like this…time to incorporate video technology in the future on situations likes this, especially for sanctioned tournament games.
Require Competition Glass Basketball Backboard with Buzzer Beater Lights at all tournament games. Avoid the problem it has caused by not having them.

Your decision puts a blemish on the rest of this tournament. As for Camden, it is disappointing that they have not issued at this point a statement on the situation…advancing in the tournament on a game they did not actually win.
Tweet from Camden HS AD –
It is a shame that a state association can break the heart of a high school basketball team….you brushed it off like it was nothing. at all.
