(4-7-24) Kenton Times Sports Editor Sean Blevins has posted an inspiring story about the Wildcat’s Sophomore soccer star Marlon Lopez. Lopez came to Kenton from Honduras to join his mother when he was 11. He overcame some early obstacles including learning English.
For the past two seasons he has shined in Kenton, with a bright future ahead of him.
Sports writers are known for tagging players with a moniker….Blevins did that for Lopez…’The Honduran Wonderkid‘.
For many years Kenton was known for its football team….but over the past several years the Wildcats have been a boys soccer team to deal with in the Western Buckeye League (WBL)…including a league championship in 2018. Perfect time for a Lopez to make his appearance in Kenton. It has turned out to be a perfect match.
Lopez finished his sophomore season as a WBL Honorable Mention pick…scoring four goals and five assists.
