(5-15-24) Three new head coaches were named at South Adams after being approved at Tuesday’s Board of Education meeting.

Brett Freeman will again coach the Starfires girls basketball team.
Freeman, during his first tenure of nine years, led the Starfires to a Sectional title in 2017 with a 16-10 overall record, beating Eastside for the title before falling to Central Noble in the Regional round. Freeman had a .500 or better record in six of those nine seasons. Freeman led South Adams to 19-4 record during the 2015-2016 season.
This past season South Adams finished 3-3 in the ACAC and 7-16 overall, with a four place finish in the conference. Veteran coach Wayne Kreiger spent the last three seasons as the coach at South Adams after taking over from Freeman.
Adams Central girls basketball coach Kyle Roe is leaving that job to become the new boys basketball coach at South Adams. Roe is a 1997 Adams Central graduate and was a JV coach for the Jets before taking over the girls head job in July 2022. He went 13-33 in the next two seasons leading the Flying Jet girls teams.
The Starfires under Garrett Krieg….went 3-19 and 0-6 in the ACAC this past season. 4-18 and 1-5 in 2022-23 and 5-18 and 1-5 in 2021-22.
Miller, a 2016 South Adams graduate, Miller,was a two-time Indiana High School Athletic Association State Placer, taking third and fourth while also being a three-time Sectional and Regional Champion.
Following high school he had a very successful career at Indiana Tech–
2018-19: NAIA National Champion at 125-lbs…went 25-2 as a senior with five falls, one tech fall and three major decisions…Sooner Athletic Conference Champion at 125-lbs…Sooner Athletic Conference Co-Wrestler of the Year…won the 125-lbs. title at the Missouri Valley Invitational, finished in third place at the Grand View Open and took fifth at the Findlay Open…two-time SAC Wrestler of the Week (12/12/18, 1/23/19).
2017-18: NAIA All-American with a sixth-place finish as a junior…Sooner Athletic Conference champion at 125-lbs…went 30-10 with eight falls, three tech falls and seven major decisions…finished second at the Grand View Open, second at the Indiana Little States Championships and sixth at the Missouri Valley Invite…named to the SAC Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
2016-17: NAIA All-American with a seventh-place finish as a sophomore…NAIA Midwest Regional champion…went 16-3 with one fall, four technical falls and two major decisions
2015-16: Went 16-7 with four falls, one technical fall and one major decision…Patriot Open Champion…took fifth place at the Alma Open and Greyhound Open…went 4-3 in dual meets.
