The Weslaco (Tx) softball team took that saying to heart in winning the Texas UIL 6A state title this past Saturday.
Weslaco was down 9-3 entering the bottom half seventh inning of the UIL 6A State Championship game…the Panthers after a short fly out to right field would cut the deficit to 9-7 when Sophomore shortstop/right fielder Andrea Ortiz cameto the plate with the bases loaded and would end the game with a walk-off grand slam to win the game 11-9.
With the win, Weslaco became the first Rio Grande Valley softball team to win a UIL state championship.
