(7-24-24) Talawanda today announced that they would be leaving the Southwest Ohio Conference and will join the Southwestern Buckeye League in all sports except football in 2025-26 and will start in football in 2027. The Braves will be the 13th member…no announcement of what division they will compete in.
Talawanda athletic director Jake Richardson
“It will give all our student-athletes a stable conference to compete in,” Richardson said. “Our values align well with the schools in the Southwestern Buckeye League and we have great working relationships with a lot of the schools in the conference already.”
Talawanda’s exit leaves just three remaining schools in the SWOC… Mt. Healthy, Harrison and Northwest.
Southwest Local School District statement –
“We are working on new options – both in terms of potential new league affiliations for the Southwest Local School District (SLSD) as well as possible new school additions to the SWOC.”
