Marion Local vs Wapakoneta Football 8-18-2023
(10-28-24) This past weekend Marion Local won their 58 consecutive game beating Coldwater 35-0, the win gave them the Ohio all-time record passing Delphos St. John’s 57 in a row.
But every consecutive game winning streak has a game or two that threatens to end the streak. In the 2023 season opener vs. Western Buckeye League Wapakoneta the end of the streak was in sight. The Flyers trailed 26-14 with just a little over 3 minutes to go in the 4th quarter.The Flyers would score 2 TDS in that span with the winning catch taking place at 1:04 reamining in the game and they would survive the scare beating the Redskins 29-26.
Five weeks later the Flyers would manage to hang on to beat Versailles 14-13. The Tigers scored with just 2:06 remaining in the game to get them within 1 point…but the extra-point kick went wide right. The Fleyers streak would continue.

The Flyers last loss was in 2020, the COVID season, to New Bremen 24-17 on November 6th during the playoffs. The Cardinals would go on to win the Ohio D VII State title.
