Today, we wanted to let everyone know that we have been in constant communication with Coach Bomholt, our Head Varsity Basketball Coach. Just prior to the Varsity game at Blackford, Saturday evening, Coach voluntarily went to the hospital. This decision was made for precautionary reasons. Coach and his family wanted to ensure that everything was okay due to Coach not feeling well. Early that next morning he was released and did go home to rest.
After spending some time with his family and further discussions with his care team Coach has made the decision to Retire as the Head Varsity Boys Basketball Coach at Jay County Jr – Sr High school effective immediately. This decision did not come lightly and or was this decision easy to make for Coach.
We want to first and foremost thank Coach Bomholt and his wife DeeDee for their years of faithful service here at Jay. Coach Bomholt has dedicated the last 44 years of his life following his passion: basketball. Coach coach was always quick to tell anyone that “he has had the best job in the world being a high school basketball coach”.
The Jay School Corporation would like to thank Coach Bomholt and family for their service to our community. Coach, your legacy to Indiana Basketball will live on through the countless lives of the young men you have coached. We wish you and your family all the best in their next adventure of life

In regards to the team and the remainder of the year. Coach Brogan Gary, current Junior Varsity Boys Basketball coach, will be serving as the Interim Varsity Boys Basketball Coach.
