Addison Beasley of Wawasee High School was named the recipient of the Mental Attitude Award by the IHSAA Executive Committee after today’s state meet.

Academically, Addison ranks third in her senior class, is a member of the National Honors Society, an AP Scholar Award winner, and a four- year Scholar Athlete.

She qualified for the State Finals in the 200 individual medley, 100 breaststroke, and was a part of the Warriors’ 200 medley and 200 free relay teams. Elected a team captain the last two years, Addison has qualified for state all four years and holds the school record in each of those events and the conference and sectional marks in the IM and breaststroke. Outside of school, she is also a nine-year 4-H club member.

Addison is the daughter of Vince and Lindsay Beasley of Syracuse, Ind. She will be attending the Ball State University where she will be majoring in Nursing or Pre-Medicine. She is the first Wawasee girls swimmer to be awarded an IHSAA mental attiutude award, the eighth in any sport and first since 2007.

Each year the IHSAA Executive Committee selects a senior who was nominated by her principal and coach and was determined to have best demonstrated mental attitude, scholarship, leadership and athletic ability. Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance, the IHSAA’s proud corporate partner, presented $1,000 to the Wawasee High School’s general scholarship fund in the name of Addison Beasley.
