(2-24-25) This past summer Rockford (Illinois) Lutheran’s Bane Workman was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma. It went into remission in October, but that didn’t mean treatments were done.

Non-Hodgkin lymphoma (also known as non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, NHL, or sometimes just lymphoma) is a cancer that starts in white blood cells called lymphocytes, which are part of the body’s immune system.

Friday morning, before the Crusaders played crosstown rival Rockford Christian, he underwent his last round of treatments, he returned home in timefor a special night in his honor Wear Gold for Bane Why Gold? It is used to symbolize pediatric cancer awareness.

It was a very special night as fans from both sides wore GOLD to celebrate and support Bane.

Before the starting lineups were introduced, the schools presented a check to the Workman family to help with medical expenses. Workman started the game,the two teams had agreed ahead of time to allow Workman to score the opening basket.

Rockford Christian won the game 87-52…but everyone was a winner in their support for Bane.
