In 2024, Des Moines Hoover’s football team had 45 athletes listed on its roster. Hoover has not won a football game since Sept. 9, 2022, when they defeated Sioux City West, 35-33.

Students enrolled at Hoover will be allowed to play for Des Moines Roosevelt starting in the fall.
Iowa football competes in Districts, this will force adjustments for the IHSAA in scheduling. The Huskies last season were in 4A District 4 (Pella, Gilbert, Newton, Carlisle and Bondurant-Farrar).
Roosevelt, one of the largest schools in Iowa, last year competed in the 5A Group 1 (Dowling Catholic, Sioux City North, Ankeny Centennial and Des Moines East)

According to MaxPreps Hoover was 0-9 during the past season and 0-5 in district play…Roosevelt was 1-8 and 0-4 in district play..they opened the season with a 30-8 win over Des Moines Lincoln (1-8 & 0-4)..
