
(4-9-25) Jackson Center 2012 grad Andy Hoying was named tonight as the new boys basketball coach at Sandusky Perkins by the Board of Education. This will be his first head coaching job.
Hoying replaces Eric Kochendoefer, who resigned last month after three seasons, during his time Perkins went 46-26. The Pirates went 15-9 this season.

Hoying played his college basketball at Mercyhurst University in Erie, Pennsylvania from 2012-2016, he played in all 118 games and won a PSAC Championship during his senior year. In that year, Hoying was selected as the Mercyhurst Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year and the PSAC Men’s Basketball Champion Scholar Athlete. He was an Assistant Coach (2021-24) at Mercyhurst for three years, was also the Direcor of Student-Athlete Success, for three years as a High School basketball Varsity Assistant Coach (2018-2020) for Bishop Hartley High School (Columbus, OH) and most recently, (2020-2021) Wapakoneta High School (Wapakoneta, Ohio).
At Jackson Center Hoying played basketball, baseball and cross country…he was named Shelby County Player of the Year twice…selected as Ohio Co-Player of the Year in Division IV.
