
(5-7-25) A new high school, the total $120 million project, is being built in Carter County (Kentucky)…and is still in the construction stage. Carter County Schools, while waiting for the new school to open, in February announced that the new mascot and school colors for Carter County High School.
“Carter County Coyotes.” Their new colors will be blue, black, silver and white
One other mascot candidate in the final running was ‘Aces‘.
Community decides on future mascot of new school
The color scheme choices during the voting for both mascots…included blue, black, silver, and white for both the coyotes and aces with optional schemes of purple, black, silver, and white for the coyotes; and black, gold, blue, and white for the Aces.

Carter County Schools presently has two high schools…East Carter, whose mascot is the Raiders, with school colors of red, white and blue and West Carter, whose mascot is Comets, with school colors of maroon and white. These two schools will be consolidated into the new Carter County High School. Interesting to note that neither schools mascot or colors has been incorporated into the new school. Targeted completion of the new Carter County High School will be sometime in 2028.

Mascot Changes Around The US
Recently mascot changes have taken place…most have seen schools replace Native American mascots. Illinois is presently in the process pushing state legislation to outlaw them.
