(9-29-25) No shuffling at the top of the rankings this week. But that doesn’t mean there wasn’t a ton of teams making their case for the role of contenders. Upsets, shockers, and heartbreakers were the theme in Week 6 as teams created chaos, vying for postseason positioning.

Division I – Elder Joins Top 10

Elder now has a chance to capture its first GCL South title since 2015. The Panthers held off St. Xavier on the road for a 23-13 win on Friday night. Quarterback Kaden Estep was sharp, completing 18 of 21 passes for 205 yards and a touchdown. The GCL South title will be on the line on Friday when the Panthers host #1 Moeller.

Division II – Hudson Defense With Another Shutout

The Explorers have displayed some of the best defense in the state in the month of September. Hudson has won four in a row, pitching three shutouts and allowing only a field goal in the stretch. The Explorers host undefeated and #5 Wadsworth on Friday in a game that will likely decide the Suburban League National.

Division III – Bishop Hartley Makes Some Noise

With the revitalization of Columbus suburban football, the Hawks have been overlooked even within the 614. However, Matt Melle’s squad has a chance to put the state on notice. The Hawks dominated St. Charles 40-7 on Friday night. Up next, Hartley gets back-to-back daunting challenges against Walsh Jesuit and #1 Bishop Watterson.

Division IV – Indian Hill Still Climbing

Division IV remains Ohio’s most unpredictable race, with new contenders emerging weekly. Shelby, Taft, and Glenville hold steady in the top three. After that, Indian Hill climbs to #4 following a pair of shutout wins. Undefeated Indian Valley stays in the top five while other undefeateds climbing include New Lexington, Norton, and Unioto. Bath jumps up one spot following a convincing win over Elida.

Division V – Versailles Cracks Top 10 Despite Loss

‘Blown Call’ Extends Winning Streak To 70 In A Row, One Streak Ends

The dramatic ending of the Marion Local–Versailles game made national news, but the bigger takeaway is that Versailles came within one play of ending the nation’s longest winning streak. For that, Versailles joins Triway and Genoa Area as the week’s biggest climbers. The Tigers head to Anna on Friday in contest with huge playoff implications.

Division VI – Carey Rallies With Three Straight

After an 0-3 start, Carey has come out of nowhere, reeling off three straight wins over Upper Sandusky, Seneca East, and Wynford. After a trip to Buckeye Central, Carey’s schedule heats up with undefeated Colonel Crawford and #8 (D-VII) Mohawk. And we cannot ignore Margaretta, who debuted in the top 15 following a 35-0 win over previously undefeated Woodmore.

Division VII – Fort Recovery Shocks New Bremen

Fort Recovery bent but never broke as they held off New Bremen’s late drive for a 20-13 win on Friday. The upset win should see the Indians with a clear path to the postseason, practically guaranteeing that the MAC gets 8 teams in. Depending on the seeding, Region 28 could deliver a loaded semifinal round with Marion Local, St. Henry, New Bremen, and Fort Recovery all in the mix.
