(10-6-25) Rochelle (Illinois) star running back Dylan Manning underwent brain surgery Friday night at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood to remove a clot and some bleeding from the brain after he had suffered an injury during the team’s Week 6 game this past Friday (Oct. 3) against Morris.

Manning was taken off the field Friday night on a stretcher to an ambulance after collapsing on the sideline after the game was over.

Sunday on Facebook, his father, Ben Manning said that Dylan was off the sedatives and the breathing tube, is mostly still sleeping and at times responds to voices and has opened an eye and spoke a few words.

Last season he rushed for 1,250 yards and 18 touchdowns for a Rochelle team that went 10-2 and reached the quarterfinals of the 5A IHSA Playoffs. Manning is a three-year varsity player who earlier this season went past 2,000 career rushing yards,
