(12-19-25) The United Athletic Conference is “a collaborative partnership of districts committed to unity, competitive excellence and expanded opportunities for student-athletes.”
The new conference will be for football and boys & girls basketball only.
Together, the participating districts established the UAC to provide a competitive structure for both high school and middle school sports and activities.
The UAC includes an agreed-upon governance model, code of conduct, fiscal framework, recognition programs and additional shared expectations to support student-athletes and school communities.
The school boards have been asked to contribute $5,000 dollars during the initial year to support the start up costs.
Member schools will include:
- Bedford
- Maple Heights
- South Euclid-Lyndhurst (Brush)
- Garfield Heights
- Warrensville Heights
- recently established Youngstown High School (Chaney and East merger)
South Euclid-Lyndhurst (Brush) Superintendent Dr. Dominick Kaple
“We are excited to join the United Athletic Conference and to once again be part of an athletic community. After competing independently for the past five years, this marks an important new chapter for our student-athletes, coaches, and district. The UAC reflects shared values of sportsmanship and excellence, and we look forward to building strong relationships and meaningful competition with our conference partners.”
Youngstown School Board member Joe Meranto, chair of the athletic committee told WFMJ TV-
“We’ve had some schools indicate to us…I’ve heard that they will play us, but they don’t want to come to the historic Rayen Stadium, and I personally have a problem with that.”
