(3-19-26) Buckeye Local is mourning the loss of Sophomore Bristol Crokie (15) who passed away on Tuesday.
Bristol made history this season as the first female wrestler from Buckeye Local to compete and place in the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference girls tournament, earning a third-place finish.

Bristol D. Crokie, 15, of Wintersville passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at her home. She was born July 27, 2010 in Weirton. She is the daughter of Chad Crokie and Jaime Harris.
Bristol was a student at Buckeye Local High School that was part of the wrestling and football teams. Bristol made history this season as the first female wrestler from Buckeye Local to compete and place in the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference girls tournament, earning a third-place finish. The family would like to thank Coach Brian and Coach Morelli for their guidance and continued support. Bristol also competed for Lynn’s Martial Arts/Wells TWP boxing earning first place in multiple competitions for breaking, kata 1 & 3 point sparing and weapons.
Surviving, in addition to her parents, are her brother, DJ Crokie; paternal grandmother Shirley Miller; maternal grandmother Leeona (Jim) Harris and stepdad Shawn Head.
Visitation will be held Monday from 3:00 pm until time of a remembrance service at 6:00 pm at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville.
