(3-22-26) Kentucky announced the winners of the 2026 Mr. Basketball and Miss Basketball during a ceremony in Lexington, Madison Central’s Jake Feldhaus and Assumption’s Ashlinn James.

James (5’7) who has signed with Indiana University, averaged 14.9 points and 4.5 rebounds while leading Assumption to its first Seventh Region championship since 2007. The Rockets reached the Sweet 16 championship game before falling to George Rogers Clark 48-43.

James played six seasons of varsity basketball, starting as a seventh-grader at Eminence and then playing as an eighth-grader at Jeffersontown. She joined the varsity program at Manual as a freshman and played two seasons there before transferring to Assumption.

James scored 816 points over two seasons at Assumption and finished with 2,208 points over her six-year varsity career. This season she shot 44% from the field and 71.7% from the free-throw line.

James is the second Miss Basketball winner from Assumption

6-foot-8, 220-pound senior forward Madison Central’s Jake Feldhaus, a Belmont University signee, led the Indians to a 30-4 record and the semifinals of the 11th Region tournament. Feldhaus averaged 20.7 points, 13 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.8 blocks while shooting 57.6 percent from the floor. The 11th Region Player of the Year, he also recorded 30 double-doubles.

Jake Feldhaus is the second player from Madison Central to win the award.
