Orangeburg, New York (2-19-17) Last week in Toledo, Ohio a fight broke out in a boys basketball game, this weekend a fight broke out in a girls basketball game in New York–only this time teammates fought with each other.
It was a New York State Public High School Athletic Association girls basketball tournament game, Tappan Zee beat Peekskill 74-50, thanks to hitting 18-36 shots behind the arc. What happened after the final horn sounded overshadowed the win.
According to a story by Mike Zacchio of the LoHud -The Journal News, after the postgame handshakes were done between the teams, Peekskill players began fighting with each other, due to the loss. Parents became involved in the incident, one Peekskill player was reportedly punched in the face by one of her teammates and one woman was taken to the hospital.
The Red Devils on Thursday in an opening round game beat Nanuet 62-51 to advance to play Tappan Zee.
