(8-2-17) The following was a posting on Facebook this week –

Parkway Area Friends:
We are looking at gauging interest for boys and girls in grades 7-12 interested in participating in a Fall Club Soccer program.

We know it’s short notice but the season is upon us so we are going to hold a Parent Meeting at New Horizons Community Church this Friday, August 4, 2017 at 7 PM to share information about plans for a club soccer program and to begin discussing what can be expected of the season.

For those that might be interested in participating but unable to attend on Friday, please feel free to reach out to me and we will get you the information.

Dave Souers will lead the meeting this week – so plan on lots of excitement and great information for this great opportunity.

Dave Souers who is the Lead Pastor at New Horizons Community Church comments that it hopefully will lead to a varsity program(s) in the future.

That is the conversation we are having. Like every other sport that was been started recently at Parkway, they must be a self supporting club for 3 years before it even has an opportunity to be a varsity sport. The goal would be to build the club to show it has the support. We are already in talks with leagues in the area to get games for this season.

The Panthers who are members of the Midwest Athletic Conference does not sponsor either boys or girls soccer as a conference sanctioned sport. Three MAC schools have varsity soccer, Coldwater and Delphos St. John’s each field a girls team, while New Knoxville (a non-football school) has a boys soccer team.

All three current schools are members of the single-sport soccer league, Western Ohio Soccer League.

The last varsity sport to be added at Parkway was boys wrestling.
