(9-21-17) Wapakoneta after placing 3rd during the WBL regular season had a big day at the Celina Lynx shooting a tournament winning 306, to outdistance Shawnee (321) by 15 strokes. Regular season champions, Bath, the regular season Champions (9-0) had a tough day, shooting a 340 on the day.
For Wapakoneta it gives them back-to-back titles. The Redskins were ‘red‘ hot, Logan Miller led the way with a 72, Tanner Sweede had a 74, Drew Zweibel had a 78 and Dusty Haggard had a 82.
When the last shot fell, Wapakoneta and Shawnee will share the WBL Championship based on the WBL point system (based on regular season finish and tournament finish) , both finished with 18 points. Bath, ends up with a third place finish one point back at 17.
Shawnee’s Keaton McKinley and Wapakoneta’s Logan Miller each shot a 72 on the day, McKinley would win the first playoff hole to be named the WBL Match Medalist.

Season honors went to Van Wert’s Jared Hernandez who was named the WBL Golfer of the Year for the second year in a row and St. Marys’ Jill Schmitmeyer was named the runner-up. Hernandez and Schmitmeyer both shot a 77 for the tournament, 5 strokes behind the leaders.
Schmitmeyer, plays on the Roughriders’ boys team because St. Marys does not field a girls team.
