(10-7-17) Growing up in Mercer County Ohio you are bound to have strong feelings about your country, national anthem and the American flag. Four-year old Grant Diegel, the son Monte Diegel and Stephanie Fella, showed his patriotism when attending a high school football game in Coldwater (Ohio) on Friday night.
His older brothers, Brady age 7 and Leo age 9 were singing the National Anthem with a group of students before the start of the game with Minster. Monte, the proud dad, was taping the kids singing on his phone when he noticed Grant saluting during the anthem.
Dad said–
He has gained a respect for the anthem and the flag that amazes me at his age..he just turned 4 this week..
Folks in Celina and Mercer County all know Monte (dad) who has been involved in community events, local law enforcement and fire departments for a long time, and the local 9-1-1 dispatchers for many years. So it is no surprise that Grant has seen how to honor and respect his country.
In June, while Grant was in Virginia, he was already showing off his patriotism when a picture of him shaking hands with a World War II veteran was featured in the Lynchburg Virginia’s The News and Advance .

The video shows a special moment, one that should make many reflect on what is important.
Thanks Grant!!!!
