(10-7-17) For one school they would end a 42 game consecutive losing streak, while another team had to forfeit on Friday night.

Hundred,  who had last week off because of an open date due to Bishop Donahue closing at the end of last season, forfeited its game last night to Valley 1-0. The reason stated was a lack of players.

Hundred forfiet

In a reply to a SSN email, Hundred High School Principal Beth Sigley told us:

A team never wants to forfeit a game. Unfortunately, several of our players are battling injuries which left us with 10 athletes being left to play. We are hopeful our injured players will be released, so we can continue on with our schedule this coming Friday.

It is not the first time Hundred has faced this situation, in 2014 only 14 students, including one female, were committed to playing. The school’s administration at the time believed that they would need at least 18 players, based on a recent history of injuries and participation and cancelled the season. The Hornets started again in 2015 fielding  a JV team.

According to WVSSAC Hundred has 106 students enrolled at the High School level.

Hundred is scheduled to play Hancock, who won their first game of the season over Grace Christian 43-24 on Friday night.  Last season the Panthers beat Hundred 59-14.

In Wisconsin, not so lucky last night was Richland Center who lost to Prairie du Chien 35-6.  The Blackhawks were the last team to lose to the Hornets back in September of 2013.

A game, that was played in heavy rain, helped Prairie du Chien (7-1, 3-1 SWC) qualify for the WIAA playoffs

Next up for the Hornets is Dodgeville, who they lost to last season 47-7.

STREAK ENDED

In Minnesota, Kimball ended a 42-game losing streak (2nd longest in the US) in style beating previously undefeated Upsala/Swanville (5-1) 31-16. The 31 points was the most given up by the Patriots in their six games this season. For 1st year Head Coach John Benson it was his first win as the Cubs head man.

Before last night the Cubs last win came in October of 2012 when they beat Spectrum 49-18.
