(10-7-17) Results from today’s boys and girls IHSAA Cross Country Sectional at Bellmont.

BOYS

Bellmont qualified for next week’s Regional after winning the Boys Cross Country Sectional held at Bellmont. The Braves easily beat 2nd place New Haven 32-91. South Adams was 5th with 146 points and qualifies for next week’s Regional. Adams Central came in 11th with 265 points.

The Braves had a strong team finish with the first three Braves finishing 1-2-3. Justin Gephart  took home the Sectional Championship in a time of 16:44.1, Kyle Lawson (17:11.0) was 2nd and Blaine Johnson (17:21.7) was 3rd.

Wyatt Miller (17:40.3) led South Adams with a Top 10 finish at #10, while Corey Oliver led Adams Central with a 25th place finish and qualifies as an individual to move on to Regionals.

Girls

All three Stateline area teams in the Bellmont Sectional girls race will advance to Regionals next week. South Adams finished 3rd with 56 points, Bellmont was 4th with 130 points and Adams Central was 5th with 140 points.  Ft. Wayne Bishop Luers won the race with 39 points. Norwell’s Synney Lambert was the individual winner in a time of 19:19.1.

South Adams managed to get four runners in the Top 13 (overall), led by an 8th place finish by Kallee Patch (21:18.0) in 8th and right behind ger was teammate Eliza Harruf (21:18.8) in 9th. The next two Starfires to finish were Olivia Von Bunten (21:33.6) in 12th and Megan Miller (21:39.8) in 13th.

Emily Fuelling (20.39.2) finished 5th for Bellmont, while Adams Central was by Olivia Reynolds (22:03.9) in 17th and Ally Shoaf (22:10.9) right behind her in 18th.

At the Delta Sectional

Jay County Freshman Sophia Fugiett finished 5th, joining her at Regionals will be Freshman Miranda Alig, Junior Skyler Myers and Senior Alex LeMaster.
