(10-8-17) Today was tournament pairings day for the upcoming OHSAA Girls Volleyball Tournament. This year’s tournament will be the first with the new competitive balance plan in place.
In the D II Bluffton District, Celina has a bye and will play the winner of the Defiance- Napoleon match on October 21st at 2pm.
Eight of the WBL’s 10 teams will comprise the District make-up, the other 3 are Napoleon, Bryan and Wauseon.
At Kalida’s D III District tournament in the upper bracket, #1 seed Coldwater will play Bluffton at home on October 17th, with the winner taking on Spencerville. The Cavs draw was much better than the other bracket.
The bottom bracket sees #2 seed Liberty-Benton, the BVC champions and undefeated (19-0) taking on Elmwood, but the backet also includes the #3 seed Ottawa-Glandorf, they currently lead the WBL standings and are state ranked.
The D IV pairings at the Van Wert District sees three of the four Mercer County schools competing in the bottom bracket. St. Henry picks up a bye and will play the winner of the New Knoxville-Delphos Jefferson match on October 19th at 6:30pm. Marion Local will open with Wayne Trace and the winner gets a chance to play state-ranked St. Henry on October 19th.
In the upper bracket, Parkway opens up with Antwerp on October 16th at 6:30pm, with the winner getting powerhouse New Bremen.
Seven of the teams in the District are from the Midwest Athletic Conference.
