(12-6-17) A former Muncie Central and Munciana Volleyball Club volleyball coach,  Nolan Brand, 24, was arrested Monday following allegations that he had sex with a 15-year old girl, and threatened to blackmail her to keep her quiet.

When police interviewed Brand, he admitted to having sex with the girl more than 12 times. He also gave police access to his phone, which contained videos of sexual acts between the two.

Brand faces three counts of sexual misconduct with a minor, one count of child seduction and one count of child exploitation.

Brand was released by both the Muncie Community Schools and the Munciana Club (head coach of the “16 National Koalas”) on Monday.

Muncie Community Schools says Brand ended his employment on October 14th, after being employed for just  two-and-a-half-months. When he was hired, all background checks were completed, the school said.

MCS Spokesperson Ana Pichardo released the following statement:

“The safety and well-being of our students is always the highest priority in our schools. We are obviously shocked and dismayed by the allegations. We will continue to support all of our students and families while assisting investigators during their investigation.”

He was released from the Delaware County Jail on a $40,000 bail.
