(1-12-18) Mother nature tried to stop today’s  Coldwater Cavalier Invitational with ice and snow and hazardous road conditions, but that didn’t happen.  Meanwhile the rest of teams tried to stop Coldwater, but that didn’t happen. The Cavaliers went 5-0 on the day to win their own invitational, edging out Jay County (4-1) 39-26 during their head-to-head match as the Patriots would finish as the runner-ups.

Another bonus for the Cavs today, two wrestlers, Brian Chmielewski and Seth Obringer, both picked up their 100th career win. That Cavs can now boast of three wrestlers with a 100 career wins, earlier this season Thomas Schwieterman picked up his century mark win.

The only drawback of the day was when several teams who were suppose to compete did not make the trip to Mercer County because of the bad weather. That is when it was decided to put together a ‘Select’ team, composed of wrestlers from all of the five remaining schools, to fill-out the field and allow each team to have five matches on the day. The select team went 0-5 on the day.
