Jefferson AD Dave Hoffman tells me they’ll hire Luke Taviano as their new football coach, pending board approval next month. Taviano was the Div. VII state coach of the year last fall, leading Perry (his alma mater) to their first-ever playoff berth. Was a Jeffcats asst. in 2016.

(4-24-18) Perry will have a new head football coach in the fall, their third in the last three years.
According to a Delphos Herald story earlier today, Luke Taviano, will leave after one season as the Commodores head man and become the new Head Coach at Delphos Jefferson. It will become official at the May 14 Delphos Board of Education meeting.
At Perry Taviano replaced Herb Lane who lost his life in an auto accident in 2017. Taviano was named Northwest Central Conference and All-Northwest District Division VII Coach of the Year in 2017. fHe led Perry to a 6-5 record, losing to Lehman Catholic in its D VII playoff appearance.
Taviano will replace Brandon Behnfeldt who was the head coach for the Wildcats for just one season (6-4). For Jefferson it will also be their third head football coach in three years. Behnfeldt replaced Chris Sommers who left for Spencerville.
Jefferson AD Dave Hoffman told the Delphos Herald:.
“We had 16 or 17 officially apply for the position, so we were pleased that we had that much response. We decided to bring six or so in for an official interview and were pleased with the quality of candidates. We had a lot of good candidates to choose from and we just feel at this time that Luke is the best fit for what we have going on here at the school and where we want to go from here.”
