(8-6-18) WIFR’s Mike Buda tweeted today that Our Lady of the Sacred Heart will co-op with Christian Life in football this fall. According to the tweet Christian Life’s staff will take over the program for both schools.
With the Guardians, the smallest IHSA member to field an 11-man football team last season, that means nine schools will be scrambling to fill at least one week of their schedule, just 19 days before the first week of the 2018 season. The Guardians conference the Northeastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has been snake bitten recently, two years ago when Christian Life decided to move down to 8-man football, those schools at the time were awarded a forfeit win, some schools did play Christian Life using the 8-man rules as an exhibition game.
Since 8-man football is not an approved sport in the IHSA, the two schools should be able to move forward without any type of approval.
Below is the schedule the Guardians had in place for this season, these schools will be looking to fill those dates.
