(8-9-18) – They say everything is bigger in Texas, but for Fort Worth Diamond Hill-Jarvis they hope to break their 77 game consecutive football game losing streak this season. The Eagles have not won a football game since September 18th, 2010 when they beat Dallas Jefferson 31-7.
Last season was a tough year, they were shut-out five times, gave up 70 points twice during the season, while only scoring 54 points the entire season.
The Texas HS football record for most consecutive losses is 80, set by Houston Davis from 1985-93. The national record is 82, was set by Glascock County (Ga), from 1990-99. Just six losses away from tying a national record is not a direction the Eagles want to be headed in.
2018 Diamond Hill-Jarvis Schedule
9/7 North Dallas
9/14 Fort Worth North Side
9/27 Lake Worth
10/5 @ Fort Worth Dunbar
10/26 @ Kennedale
11/10 @ Western Hills
The best chance for the Eagles to break the streak will be week four when they play Carter-Riverside. The battle of the two Eagles teams could go either way, last season Carter-Riverside beat Diamond Hill-Jarvis 17-0, which was their only win in a 1-9 season.
Last season current Head Coach Oscar Castillo told the Star-Telegram:
“You have to find little wins. I love the Cinderella story, but I was prepared for 0-10.”
