(2-8-19)  Kenton Ridge’s Mikala Morris (6’2 Senior) will try this weekend to become the State’s all-time career rebounding Queen. The Cougars play two games this weekend, tonight at home against Jonathan Alder  and on Saturday at Chaminade-Julienne.

Morris is presently second on the all-time list with 1,669 rebounds and is just 21 rebounds away from the current leader Kaayla Chone (1996-1999) of Eastlake North with 1,690.

Morris had 1,249 rebounds to end the 2017-18 season, add the 420 she has in her Senior year and now she is in well within reach of the record.

Morris is listed in two other OHSAA rebounding categories, including the 2nd all-time single season top 10 rebound list with her 495 rebounds and her 30 rebounds in a single game a year ago against Dayton Ponitz puts her in that elite list.

Morris will continue her career next year at Quinnipiac University.

Quinnipia University Coach Fabbri on Morris:

“Mikala is fierce off the glass on both ends. We haven’t had a player who rebounds like this since Ashlee Kelley. This past summer, watching Mikala, she was one of the toughest competitors I’ve seen on the AAU circuit in years. She’s a stellar finisher in traffic around the hoop and has face-up game as well. We are so impressed with her athleticism and physical style of play!”
