(3-14-19) The Coldwater Cavaliers (18-9)  continue on their ‘Magical Mystery Tour‘ after knocking off Willard  (22-4) 77-54 last night in the DIII Regional Semifinal at the Stroh Center in Bowling Green.

Cole Frilling led the way for Coldwater with  four three pointers and 26 points,  Marcus Bruns added  18 points and Jacob Wenning added 11 points including 3 three pointers. The Cavs hit 12 from behind the arc as a team.

After the loss Willard Head Coach Joe Bedingfield told the Norwalk Reflector:

“I did not feel like we got in a good offensive flow,” said. “They did a nice job of changing defenses. I thought we struggled to get the ball inside like we like to do. We settled.”

“They shot the ball extremely well. Credit to them. We have had a nice run.”

“Coldwater came out and they executed.their kids are playing well at the right time. We knew this was going to be a tough game… They are on a roll right now. It would not surprise me to see them win on Saturday as well.”

Next up for Coldwater is Cardinal Stritch. The Cardinals who blew a late double-digit lead hung on to beat Grandview Heights 63-58 in the other semifinal game.

Leading the ways for the Cardinals was Little Anderson (6’3 Sr)  with  19 points and six rebounds, Joey Holifield added 15 points, 6 rebounds and three assists and Jordan Burton added 14 points and three assists.

The Cardinals shot 57.1 percent from the field (24-of-42), while Burton, Anderson and Holifield shot 60 percent (18-of-30).

Grandview Heights Head Coach Ray Corbett told the Toledo Blade after the game:

“Give them credit, those kids made a lot of great plays for them. They’re a guard-oriented team, and their guards played extremely well tonight.”

Coldwater Regional Boys Basketball Ticket Information

Coldwater will be playing in the Regional Final at the Bowling Green State University Stroh Center on Saturday, March 16th at 7:00 p.m.  Tickets will be sold as follows:

  • Presale – All Tickets $7
  • Gate – All Tickets $8
  • Parking $5

Tickets will be sold Thursday and Friday from 8:00-5:00 and also on Saturday morning from 9:00-10:00 a.m.   All tickets are general admission.  Coldwater gets a portion of presale tickets only.  Gates will open at 6:00 p.m.
