Brett Purcell

(7-3-19) The Kenton City Schools Board of Education met last week , the board approved the hiring of new Athletic Director Brett Purcell.

Purcell, will be the fourth AD in the past six years, replaces Joseph (Joey) Day who took the position just two years ago after being  the AD at Harvest Preparatory School in Canal Winchester since 2016. He replaced Mike Leddy who accepted a position with the Findlay City Schools. Leddy had replaced Mike Mauk who was not rehired.

Purcell has been the the Athletic Director at Waynesfield-Goshen Local Schools for eight years. Heis a graduate of Ohio University with a bachelors degree in Sports Management, and a masters degree in Athletic Administration from Ohio University.

Prior to becoming the AD at W-G, Purcell worked in sales and client services for three different professional sport franchises, the Columbus Blue Jackets, Tampa Bay Rays, and Cincinnati Reds. He has served as the President of the NW-OIAAA Executive Board, and was awarded the 2016 OIAAA Meritorious Service Award from the NW-OIAAA. He is also s a course facilitator for Ohio University’s Masters of Athletic Administration Program.

Purcell is a native of Kenton, and resides there with his wife Brooke, and their two children Gabriel and Lianna.
