(11-24-19) Next up for Marion Local in the OHSAA D VII state semifinal game is #3 seed Patrick Henry (10-3), a 27-13 winner over #1 seed Leipsic in the last night’s Region 26 championship game.

The Flyers advanced last night to the next game by knocking off Midwest Athletic Conference rival New Bremen 27-0, a #8 seed, in the Region 28 title game.

This will not be the be first time these two have played each other in a State Semifinal game, back in 2016 (in a D VI game) the Flyers beat the Patriots 35-7. Marion Local would go on to win the state title that year beating Cuyahoga Heights 21-17. You can be sure Coach Bill Inselmann will want to talk about that 2016 game and wanting to turn around the results in 2019.

Patrick Henry Coach Bill Inselmann told the Toledo Blade after the win last night

“What’s the favorite part of a book when you read it?. The ending.”

Patrick Henry Coach Bill Inselmann told the Toledo Blade after the win about Rhamy

Flyers Head Coach Tim Goodwin told pressprosmagazine.com after the game about his team’s win

“It seems at times nothing comes easy to this team. We don’t have a lot of explosive-type kids. We don’t have a lot of big plays. We have lunch pail guys who keep playing.”

Saturday’s D VII State Semifinal game between Patrick Henry and Marion Local will be played at Lima’s Spartan Stadium on Saturday night (November 30) at 7pm. The winner will advance to Canton to play in the D VII Championship game.
