(2-3-20) The Ft. Recovery Indians’ boys and girls basketball teams remain undefeated in the Mercer County League. Both team could win MCL titles if they finish the season without a loss.

Why the MCL?

To add a little extra excitement to the high school basketball season SSN again will bring you the Mercer County League.

The first year SSN introduced the (mythical) MCL was in 2018-19.

All six Mercer County high schools are included, actual head to head match-ups between the schools that will determine a MCL champion in both boys and girls basketball.

MCL Report – 2-3-20

Despite not playing Celina, the Indian boys with a win over Coldwater Friday night could clinch the championship, based on the fact they would have have wins over the four teams below them in the standings.

Parkway would claim a share of the title, if the Indian boys lose on Friday night. The Panthers only MCL loss came in December when Ft. Recovery edged them by just 2 points 58-56.

Don’t feel to sorry for the  Panthers, this past Friday night they broke a 19 year losing streak to St. Henry winning 50-39. Plus the Black & Gold this season has wins over Marion Local and Coldwater. Research shows that could be the first time they beat those three in the same season since the MAC was formed in the early 1970’s.

GIRLS

Ft. Recovery could win the MCL title outright if they finish the season with wins over St. Henry and Celina. The Indians surprised Marion Local last week to knock off the state-ranked Flyers 58-39 and give them their first MCL loss of the season.

Marion Local will need a win over St. Henry and a Ft. Recovery loss to share the title, if the Indians lose their last two the Flyers could claim the title outright.
