(2-18-20) The 2019-20 All-Mercer County League Girls Basketball team was named today.

This year’s MCL Champions Ft. Recovery placed two players on the team, Val Muhlenkamp and Kierra Wendel. The Indians were the model of what a team is –

Coach Norman Dale

Five players on the floor functioning as one single unit: team, team, team – no one more important that the other.

Muhlenkamp, was All-MCL, last season,  was the only Indian to hang around the double-digit scoring mark during the season at 10.2 points a game and was the top Indian rebounder at almost 7 a game. Wendel led the County in steals and led the Indians in assists.

Marion Local’s Heidi Rethman led the Flyers with 12 points a game, shot over 80% at the FT line, she had 24 3-pointers (38%) and 2 steals a game.

Why the MCL?

To add a little extra excitement to the high school basketball season SSN again will bring you the Mercer County League.

The first year SSN introduced the (mythical) MCL was in 2018-19.

All six Mercer County high schools are included, actual head to head match-ups between the schools that will determine a MCL champion in both boys and girls basketball.
