(2-21-20) Three Western Buckeye League teams advanced to the OHSAA D I Boys Bowling Districts next week in Wapakoneta at Astro Lanes. All three, Wapakoneta, St. Marys and Celina, finished in the top six at Sectionals yesterday at Interstate Lanes in Rossford to qualify.
In one of the closest finishes you will see in any sport Wapakoneta picked up the Sectional trophy squeaking by Auglaize County rival St. Marys by just one pin 3,860-3,859.
Wapakoneta was led by a 7th place finish by Sam Wagner (600) and aa 10th place series by Caige Schnarre (583). Derek Fisher (622) and Cameron Now (617) led St. Marys finishing 2nd and 3rd.
Perrysburg , led by the 1st place bowler Jared Carr (623), was 3rd just 38 pins behind 1st place and Ashland was in 4th place 54 pins back.
To top of a ‘wild and woolly‘ day Celina qualified for the final spot to move on to districts edging WBL rival Defiance by just 3 pins 3,662-3,659.
Celina’s Britt Hole had a 603 series to finish in 5th place.
